Three New Properties Serve to Reinvent One of Mexico’s Legendary Beach Destinations
Acapulco, Mexico (June XX, 2010) – Acapulco has long been a destination known for its timeless glamour, rich culture and golden beaches. Today, Acapulco welcomes several impressive new hotels to its existing collection of world-renowned properties. Boutique properties, ranging from lavishly luxurious cliff-side hideaways to unique, retro beachfront lodgings have found a new home in Mexico’s legendary beach destination. Since the birth of the “boutique hotel” in the 1980’s, the original concept of this hotel phenomenon has evolved through the years. Similar to Acapulco itself, the boutique hotel continues to reinvent itself, transforming the old into the new in resort destinations throughout the world.
One of Acapulco’s “new” boutique hotels does just that – Hotel Boca Chica, a new project from trend-setting Mexican hotelier Grupo Habita, reopened its doors in March 2010. Partnering with Mexican architects Frida Rojas and Jose Escobedo as well as Fernando Romero, owner of the famed hotel located in the Traditional Zone of Acapulco, Grupo Habita has fully renovated and restored the property’s 36 guest rooms back to it’s original 1950’s glamour. This retro beach hotel additionally features Boca Chica Baths, a full-service spa, as well as an on-site restaurant, sushi bar and the latest addition to the acclaimed Acapulco nightlife scene, Coco Wash.
Hailing from Thailand, where a number of boutique and design hotels have been successfully sprouting, the Banyan Tree Cabo Marques celebrated its grand opening in March 2010. As the first luxury, all- villa spa resort in Acapulco, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques offers stunning accommodations, superior amenities, world-class Thai restaurant Saffron and a Banyan Tree Gallery of arts and crafts from around the world. The property also features the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Complex, consisting of seven spa pavilions with an extensive menu of treatments including the Signature Rainmist Treatment.
Last November, Acapulco welcomed Hotel Encanto, a unique boutique hotel and spa located in the exclusive Brisas Marques area of Acapulco. A $20 million investment, Hotel Encanto is the vision of renowned Mexican architect Miguel Angel Aragones as his personal tribute to the sea. The hotel features 44- rooms, 22 of which include a private pool on the balcony, and a full-service, spa with 8 treatment rooms. Designed with the intention to offer each guest a nurturing haven created by expansive personal space, inspiring water views, exceptional service and above all, evocative lighting, Hotel Encanto is one of the cornerstones of Acapulco’s continued revival.
A magical combination of incredible beauty and hypnotic charm, Acapulco is Mexico's largest and most dazzling seaside resort attracting over five million visitors annually. Acapulco is exotic yet easily accessible via direct or convenient connections via all major airline carriers from gateway cities across the U.S. For more information about Acapulco, visit www.visiteacapulco.com.
